This product is designed for those with additional calcium needs, such as vegans, those who are pregnant, or consume a restricted or dairy-free diet.

Inessa Calcium & Magnesium is designed to be taken alongside any daily multivitamin, as you need relevant amounts of vitamins D and K to aid with absorption. We do not advise using this product alone.

If you are taking prescribed medication or have a medical condition, you should always check with your doctor before taking supplements and read the information leaflet with your medicine(s) for contraindications.

From the founder

“People sometimes ask why we don’t put calcium and magnesium in our multivitamin products. Others on the market do sometimes add these minerals in token amounts to make the product look more complete. But to include relevant amounts of calcium and magnesium to make a real difference to health, would leave no room in the tablet for anything else! Additionally, not everybody needs to be supplementing with calcium.

We’ve added this supplement to our collection to help support people with additional calcium needs, such as those on a vegan or dairy-free diet. Additionally, sourcing a calcium and magnesium supplement without extra vitamins and minerals to use as a bolt-on alongside a pregnancy multinutrient, is a challenge I encountered when I was expecting - I didn’t want to be doubling up on nutrients that were already present in my pregnancy product. There was only one supplement of this kind available on the market at the time, and it was costly and difficult to get hold of. It’s designed to be taken in conjunction with a daily multivitamin, as you also need vitamins D and K to help your body absorb these minerals.

Our product is derived from pure, natural seaweed and seawater, ethically and sustainably sourced, and in forms that are readily absorbed by the body.”

Frequently asked questions

Traditional calcium products come in the form of ‘mineral salts’ such as limestone - a rock! These may be natural, but they tend to be poorly absorbed by the body and have even been shown to have some negative health effects. That’s why the calcium in our supplement is made from a sustainably sourced, calcified seaweed from a species called lithothamnion, harvested from Iceland.

We use a natural seawater source of magnesium citrate, derived from the clean waters off the Irish coast.

No. The seaweed is naturally dried in the sun then steamed to clean and purify it without the need for harsh chemicals. The seaweed is then ground and sifted into a fine powder ready for encapsulation. The seawater is evaporated in a natural process to concentrate the mineral salts. These are then purified with water to remove chloride, leaving the natural magnesium.

The powdered seaweed is passed through magnets to remove any heavy metals, plus it undergoes rigorous heavy metal and microbial testing.

Take one to three capsules per day with food, or as directed by a healthcare professional. Do not exceed the recommended intake. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

Inessa Calcium & Magnesium is deemed safe for most people but if you are taking prescribed medication or have a medical condition, you should always check with your doctor before taking supplements and read the information leaflet with your medicine(s) for contraindications.
